HOLA FOOD SL, as an electro-intensive consumer, has received financial aid from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism corresponding to Royal Decree 1106/2020, of December 15, which regulates the Statute of electro-intensive consumers.
An energy-intensive industry is one whose main factor of production, though not the only one, is electricity. For these electricity consumers, the cost of electricity supply is especially critical, and they can be disadvantaged when competing in global markets. The European Commission has highlighted the sensitivity of energy-intensive industries to local price factors, particularly given that there is still no single electricity market in the EU that would allow for uniform and competitive prices across the Union.
The Spanish Government has established a series of specific measures and aid for those industries and sectors that depend, to a large extent, on the costs of electricity.
The main tool is the approval of specific regulations, through Royal Decree 1106/2020, of December 15, which regulates the Statute of Energy-Intensive Consumers. Among the main measures included in this Statute are financial aid measures. These measures partially offset the financing costs of the specific remuneration for renewables, high-efficiency cogeneration, and the additional costs for electricity supply in non-peninsular territories—costs that are all included in electricity bills and are not borne by most industries.
